First Smiles!

Carter smiled at me for the first time a few days ago and although the pictures don't do justice to just how precious that little smile is, at least I was able to catch a little bit of it. You have to be quick on the draw to catch those first smiles! That face just brightens my day!

Play Time!

Now that Carter is awake for longer periods of time I've been putting him on the floor to play with some of his toys and watch Parker run around. Parker loves laying next to him and "helping" him play with his toys. I have to watch them pretty closely because while Parker is trying to be sweet by playing with his brother he sometimes isn't as careful about where he moves his arms and legs and he's been know to bonk Carter in the head on accident. I know Parker is going to just love it when Carter gets a little older and can actually play with him.

It all started with "mean face" and while my dad and Dixie were here they added to his repertoire by teaching him the "happy face" and the "surprised face". I'm not really sure how it all started but it's pretty funny!

Where has the time gone...

It seems like we just brought Carter home last week! I can't believe that he's already a month old! Luckly, he is such an easy going baby and has been an absolute blessing. Each day he is becoming more and more alert and even staying awake for longer periods during the day. I can't wait for him to crack that first smile which I think will be any day now.

He had his one month check up yesterday and weighed in at 8lbs! I couldn't believe how much weight he had gained! It is so encouraging to see such a big weight gain while nursing so I couldn't be more happy. He's also grown half an inch since birth which puts him at 20inches. All in all he's doing great!

First Park Trip

The weather was so beautiful yesterday that we decided it was time for Carter's first trip to the park! Although he slept through the whole thing in the ergo carrier, I think he really enjoyed being out in the fresh air (if nothing else Parker, Bobby and I really enjoyed getting out of the house)! We went to Municipal Park so we could feed the ducks and Parker loved it! Parker and I use to go the park on a regular basis before Carter came so while I was in the hospital Bobby took him and I was so surprised by all the things he's mastered since the last time we went. He's always been a little afraid of going down the big slides but that is no longer a problem! He was going down every slide in the park like an old pro!

I've only taken Parker to Municipal Park once when he was just starting to walk and although he enjoyed feeding the ducks then, he really got into it this time! I was amazed at how unafraid the ducks were of people. They came right up to us and Parker was able to feed them the bread we had brought right out of his hand, which of course scared me to death but he thought it was the greatest thing ever and he still has all his fingers so I guess it was okay!

I can't wait for spring so we can have more fun times at the park!
